Nicky Spode Executive Leadership Coach
(Founder of Instar Leadership Coaching)
PGC, MAC, MBTI Practitioner, AC Accredited

With 20 years of leadership roles in television production management, Nicky brings to her coaching practice the experience and stories of building and leading teams within a complex and rapidly changing creative media environment.
Originally trained as a leadership coach on the award winning BBC Coach Foundation Course, she specialises in working with leaders who are challenged by team dynamics and the ambiguity that can come about during complex organisational change. During her time at the BBC she coached a wide range of staff from script writers and directors to senior broadcast journalists and television producers and presenters. Working in partnership with their coach, clients are facilitated to identify their specific goals and unique personal strengths, and to think differently about ways of achieving successful and far-reaching outcomes.
In her previous role as Production Executive at the world famous BBC Natural History Unit, Nicky headed up the team that provides logistical and financial support to natural history film makers across the globe. She now runs Instar Leadership Coaching, working with a diverse range of clients in both the private and public sector, including the NHS, the RCN, the BBC, the education sector and third sector organisations.
In 2007, Nicky achieved a Post Graduate Certificate in Coaching Practice with Middlesex University and has been awarded the Association for Coaching and BBC Ashridge Business School Coaching accreditations. She is also a qualified Myers Briggs practitioner. Always seeking to maintain high standards and a fresh perspective on her coaching, Nicky successfully launched the first Association for Coaching Co-coaching group in Wales and has subsequently hosted a variety of high profile AC events in S. Wales. Her research focus is on the factors in coaching programmes that sustain positive change.
